Relativity

When I was little, I used to think that a 50cent coin was as big as my palm. (probably because back then, it was I guess.)

Point that I raise is - what is relative? And what isn't?

Time, we all know, is relative...And beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Shouldn't everything therefore be relative as well? Is the colour *blue* really the same in all our eyes? Does sound, well, sound the same? Do things seem bigger to smaller people, and vice versa?

Guess I'm just feeling a tad too philosophical for a Sunday night. *heh*

Moving away from that to another type of psychocity:

I think my cat is crazy. No. Really. I have two cats, a girl and a boy. Her name is Demi, his is Skit.

She runs around the house, her little tail puffed up, mewing like crazy, attacks her older 'brother' Skit, and then darts back to my bedroom to cuddle up under the sheets like nothing's happened. Then she comes out to eat Skit's regurgitated food, and declines dinner that I serve her... (I didn't know about it until my friend told me about it - the vomit I mean. I was like, "Why didn't you stop her!?!?!?! EWWWWWW!!!!")

Yep. I have one crazy cat. :S Will post pictures of the two of them up soon.

In the mean time, my best wishes to all of you. I'm working to make this week an amazing one. Anyone else? ;)

Hello Andrea,

relativity of time isnt really a philosophical subject/speculation.. but it is a scientific fact.. and its good to talk about it sometimes... it reminds us to be humble about ourselves...

and yeah you're right, blue may seem blue to you.. but it may seem green, turqoise or even red to others... a color depends on the amount of electrical signals that goes through your retina at different wavelengths...

and since everything is just an image.. perceptions within the brains...

quantum physics prove that the universe is just a perception.. all atoms are 99.999% empty... nothing really exist as 3d... everything is projected on the small screen at the back of our heads.. which is as big as a credit card..

sense of touch also orginates from the brain... hence what makes a 50 cent coin look bigger or smaller depends on the amount of shadow and depth we get to see on that tiny screen of ours....

and the very same coin may be smaller to other people.. a slight injury to our eyes,, could affect our vision as we know.. and people with eye problems, will see the 50cent coin differently....

hence, everyone has their own version of 'universe/life'.... right now, you may think you are this tall, black hair being.. but you never know.. probably in reality, you have blue hair.. slightly shorter.. with 3 hands and purple skin.. as again, the body itself is just a perception projected in our brains... and we can never really tell the true identity of a particular matter.. as we only see the 2d image of matter...

cacat people may not even be cacat after all... for all we know, they could be perfect in 'reality'...

only you control your world... with God's permission that is...

you know when you're driving, and you're thinking about a friend you've not seen for eons.. and suddenly you see this very person crossing the road??

exactly.. people may say that brains have magnetic powers, but they forget, the only reason you tend to bump into people you've not seen for eons.. is because you actually were thinking about them in your mind...

your whole universe does not exist outside of you... the universe exists within you...

outside of us is just empty darkness.. no colors.. no sounds.. no objects... colors, sounds, depth, shadow, smell only exist within the brains...

people always say that we feel with our heart,.. and think with our brains.. but the heart is just a muscle... and brains are just made out of wet meat, protein, water and lipid...

the brain and heart are all made out of atoms right? and each atom has no decision making instincts and no feelings... therefore, its not the heart that feels, nor the brain that decides... but it is the soul...

if the atoms of your palm were to be replaced by the atom of your wall, your hand will still remain the same, same goes to your wall.. what makes 'you' move... is not your heart or brain.. but its the soul...

hence at the end of the day, its not about what we wear, do or say that matters, but it is our good intentions and sincerety that does...

the only reason why your cats love you so much.. is because they can connect to your soul.. they dont love you because of your hands.. or the amount of food you give themm.. but they love you because you 'love' them...

and again, since the universe is just a perception and 99.9999% empty... the only thing that can feed our souls, is nothing but love...

it is not the mother that feeds her child, its that 'love' in her that makes her feed her child.. its no the man who decides to bring a homeless puppy back home.. but its that 'love' in him that made him bring the puppy back home...

'love' is the strongest power in the world... it unites people... it stops war between people and nations... it feeds people...it heals every scar... 'love' forgives.. and forget... and 'love' leads the way....

and i know you have a lot of 'love' in you. thank God for that.

blessings.

ty.

*there is a glitch in the matrix* ;)

I reckon the theory of relativity may or may not hold water to a certain extent... I mean, there has to be some sort of certainty in life, right?

I mean, you KNOW that a person who is a cold hearted b*tch isn't a nice human being, you KNOW that animals have feeling, feel pain and fear. Granted most of these things cannot be seen, but surely they must be real?

In as much as relativism gives us an attractive reason to accomodate our own unique visions and philosophies, you're right in suggesting that not everything is relative. Some truths are absolute. There is a natural order to the world, and natural laws to science. Jumping off a cliff without a nifty parachute will ensure that we discover the dictates of gravity in a hard way, trying to breathe underwater without scuba gear is to drown in your ambitions. So if there are absolute truths that govern the chaos of the cosmos, it's not hard to imagine that there are absolute truths that also determine human happiness, no matter how boldly we might envision them as being relative to us. Choosing ilusions over eternal truths won't change reality, no matter how pleasant the former seems. So even though perspectives are often relative to the one who perceives, perception alone is no faithful judge of reality.
